College & Career Pathways

Exploring and planning for life after high school

In our College & Career Advisory program, students in Grades 9-12 learn about Pathways offerings at TPZ. They explore career and college options, research educational institutions, and craft their post-high school plans. Professionals from various industries come in and share their college and career stories and answer students’ questions to shine light on different pathways. Throughout their journey at TPZ, students also participate in group advisory lessons and personalized advising sessions with the Pathways team.

College and Career Bootcamps

During the College and Career Bootcamp, students learn about different types of colleges, use best-fit factors to reflect on what’s important to them in choosing a college, and  they gather information and reflect on several campus visits. Students learn more about themselves–developing their communication & relationship skills, and strengthening their self-concept and sense of belonging in a college setting.

TPZ students in the bootcamp experience:

  • Hands-on visits and tours of colleges
  • Panels with alumni and representatives from different post-secondary programs
  • Enhanced professional network and development of social capital through mentorship and networking
  • Structured time to develop personalized plan for educational and career goals after high school
  • Opportunities to explore different career paths and organizations in the Boston area

At the end of the the bootcamp, students:

  • Create a scrapbook about their observations, reflections, and learnings from the college visits
  • Design a sticker illustrating their postsecondary plans and priorities following the College 101 Bootcamp
  • Present their capstone artifacts to their educators and peers during an internal circle share-out
