The PIC joined a special event launching Success Boston\u2019s new equity framework and celebrating the commitment of 15 local higher education institutions to the postsecondary success of all Boston students, particularly those from historically and currently underserved groups.<\/p>\n

Success Boston is Boston\u2019s citywide college completion initiative dedicated to increasing the number of Boston Public Schools (BPS) graduates who earn postsecondary credentials. The program is spearheaded by The Boston Foundation (TBF), along with the City of Boston, BPS, the PIC, nonprofit organizations, and local higher education institutions.<\/p>\n

During the event, City of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu emphasized the importance of continuing this initiative and partnership, which has committed to a new goal of 70% of BPS graduates should complete college within six years, up from 54% currently and 35% when Success Boston started in 2008.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

UMass Boston Chancellor and PIC Board member Marcelo Su\u00e1rez-Orozco shared the importance of institutions like UMB to continue building programs to support the success of black and Latinx students, especially those impacted by the difficulties of the last 2 years.<\/p>\n

PIC Board Chair Darren Donovan also spoke on the crucial role local employers play in providing students with career and income-earning opportunities and called for continued support and investment in BPS students.<\/p>\n

PIC HOPE Forward Postsecondary Coach Wilmer Qui\u00f1ones Melo, a BPS graduate, shared his story as a student whose experience receiving coaching through the Success Boston initiative inspired him to become a coach so that he could mentor students like himself.<\/p>\n

The PIC is proud to be part of the Success Boston College Completion Initiative, and together with the City of Boston, TBF, BPS, and many other partners, we will continue our work to position all of the city\u2019s students for success.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
