As the Partner \u2013 Audit & Accounting Services for Anstiss & Co., Renato is responsible for overseeing audits of family and closely held businesses, as well as audits of employee benefit plans maintained by both commercial and not-for-profit entities. He has more than 30 years of public accounting and auditing experience, including seven years with the national firm of McGladrey LLP prior to joining Anstiss & Co in 2012.<\/p>\n
Renato has significant experience conducting audits of both private equity group and privately owned commercial entities in the manufacturing, wholesale, distribution, and retail industries. In this capacity, he has advised company management in planning and accounting for financial and financial related technical issues, mergers and acquisitions, cash flow projections, IFRS accounting and transitioning into international territory, due diligence reviews over company asset and stock valuations, intangible impairment determination, accounting for stock-based compensation, and review of complex tax accruals.<\/p>\n
Renato also has extensive expertise conducting full scope and limited scope audits of employee benefit plans, including 403(b) and union-based health and welfare defined benefit and defined contribution plans. He assists Plan Administrators and their management teams in their understanding of the increasingly complex fair value reporting and disclosure requirements. He has also advised plan management on key internal control deficiency and compliance findings and issues that are becoming of increasing concern to both the Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service.<\/p>\n
Renato and his wife have been foster parents for many years and both pursue a life balance at home, parenting and attending many of the sports and other extra-curricular activities of their children. Renato also enjoys playing guitar and writing music.<\/p>\n
